Mepps - a little history

. The history of Mepps spinners dates back to the end of the 1930s. A French angling enthusiast, engineer Andre Meulnart (who worked for Peugot), constructed an exceptionally effective fishing lure based on his own experience and research, which he produced in an almost artisanal way. He named the small company he created for the production of spinners (and more): Manufacture d'Engins de Précision pour la Peche Sportive (literally: Factory of Precision Products for Sport Fishing Equipment).

Mepps spinners and model names

. MEPPS sold its first spinners in its own fishing store. The acronym that resulted from this long name gave the name to a new, innovative brand of fishing tackle - MEPPS. Realising that MEPPS was unique and special, he patented them all as trademarks. In this way, the names of the different MEPPS models: AGLIA, BLACK FURY, COMET, LUSOX, XD have become simply synonymous with a specific type of lure.

The original MEPPS spinners are made only in France, in the department of Alpes-Maritimes! Some models are assembled, armed and specifically decorated in the USA, in the state of Wisconsin.
